Job Opening: Lead Campaigner at Freedom Film Network The Lead Campaigner’s primary responsibility is to design and manage the #BebaskanFilem campaign. As Lead Campaigner, you will need to strategise ways to raise public awareness about film censorship, engage stakeholders, and effectively communicate Freedom Film Network’s position on the issue. The role also includes supporting and campaigning for filmmakers affected by censorship. A secondary responsibility is supporting activists and filmmakers in their film impact campaigns. The work scope includes working collaboratively with a team to craft campaign-related newsletters; social media postings and press statements; produce resource materials; and organise talks and screenings. Examples of past film censorship campaign outputs include a report, resource page, conference, zine, podcast and article.

Requirements

Skills and experience/ Ideal qualificationsExcellent in English and Bahasa Malaysia (speaking and writing)Strong research and writing skillsSocial media and design savvyComfortable with public speaking and communicating with all levels of societyRelated experience designing and leading advocacy campaignsProject management – ability to plan, execute, monitor, report independentlyConceptualising accessible outputs about film censorshipHuman rights and/or law backgroundPassion to protect freedom of expressionInterest and involvement in local arts and film industry is a plusMust be a team player
